Hoping Against HopeIn the world we live in, there are countless things, situations and people who discourage, disappoint, weaken and take away our hope. A hopeless person has no future and no amount of faith can restore our lost future. Faith without hope is useless. Having faith without hope is like having a jerican of petrol without a car. Faith drives our Hope. There is no life without hope. In matters of Faith, Abraham is recognized as the Father of Faith. But do you know how he became the Father of Faith? In Romans 4:18-20, the Bible says that although as a human being, and biologically speaking, Abraham knew that at his advanced age and with a wife who was many years beyond her menopause, it was impossible to get a child. Abraham was well aware of this. In fact, the Bible says that Abraham knew that his body was as good as dead. There was no hope humanly speaking. However, even with this awareness and human reality, Abraham still hoped against hope. He still believed that whatever the Lord had promised him, He would still fulfil it. He therefore refused to give up and surrender to hopelessness. He used faith as the fuel to drive him to his hoped future. He finally became the Father of the Nations through his Son Isaac. Today, you might be in a similar situation. You may have lost hope. You may have no more drive to move on. You feel like there is no tomorrow for you. The current situation affecting the whole world and negatively affecting your social life, family life, economic life etc may have taken a toll on you. You feel hopeless. My assurance to you today is that the same God whom Abraham walked with is the same God today. It doesn’t matter the level of your hopelessness, just stand firm. Refuse to lose hope. Hope against hope. Hold onto your faith and walk into your future. The Lord will see you through to your next level. Your future is assured in the Lord. God bless you and keep you.
