Why Premarital Counseling is Mandatory

1

I was having a shave in one of my favorite barber shops while the barber broke the silence and asked.

"What would you do if your wife run off and left you with the children?"

I was surprised. I did not expect the question. I cleared my throat and asked him.

"How long have you been together?"

This is a common question and a common scenario in the contemporary world today. The marriage institution today is experiencing a lot of upheavals, so many fights, struggles, conflicts, mental, emotional and physical abuse among other issues.

My view as a Counselor is that most of these issues are as a result unpreparedness before marriage as well as unfulfilled expectations from the spouses. Most couples focus most of their energies, time, thoughts and resources on the wedding day which is a one day event instead of focusing the same on the marriage which is a lifetime engagement. My prescription to this problem is a comprehensive Pre-marital Counseling engagement by a Professional Counselor. I repeat, a Professional Counselor. Investing in Premarital counseling can safe you the loss of your marriage.

Going through Premarital Counseling before marriage helps you to have a mental journey through your marriage before the actual journey begins. This has saved very many marriages from collapse and disintegration.
